Raven's Gate-Setting

This book takes place in many places. It starts off in Ipswich, then later moves onto Lesser

Malling
, then Greater Malling. In Greater Malling, Matt meets Richard.

Raven's Gate-Main Characters

Matt- Matt's real name is Matthew Freeman. But he never goes with his full name unless people ask for his first AND last name. It's always Matt. Just Matt. When he was eight years old, his parents died in a car crash. Could he have known it would happen--BEFORE the incident occured?......................

Kelvin Johnson- Kelvin is a 17-year-old. Kelvin is more harsh and violent than Matt, but he's Matt's only friend, and the only person that defends Matt in time of need. But he can go to extremes--and that includes a knife through someone's back.......

Gwenda Davis- Gwenda is Matt's mother's stepsister. Gwenda has a boyfriend named Brian, who works as a milkman. Gwenda is Matt's foster mother, but is later freed of that duty because of the LEAF project. Gwenda treats Matt poorly, not even letting him go to school. At first, Gwenda and Brian treated Matt well, but that was only when they were using his family's
money that was left to Matt.

Jayne Deverill- Jayne Deverill is Matt's new foster parent. There is something very mysterious about her. First of all, a drug addict is found dead in an alley after trying to steal from Jayne Deverill. Later, it was found that his knife had been pressed into his heart, slowly, inch-by-inch, with a look of great terror in his eyes. Second, the village Jayne leads Matt to seem all very weird and alike. Third, her house has a portrait that seems to move and have a life of its own. Not to mention Jayne's cat, Asmodeus, who mysteriously appears out of nowhere.

Richard Cole- Richard Cole is a reporter who helps Matt in his time of need. He protects and gives him a home, and doing so, nearly dies like the three other people who tried to protect Matt.

The Nexus- The Nexus is a group of people who are all very extraordinary. There is a rich person, a psychic person, a murdered person, and others.

Raven's Gate-Summary

Raven's Gate starts off in a warehouse, where Matt and Kelvin decide to steal from (Kelvin convinced Matt). After being caught, Kelvin does something terrible...

Matt and Kelvin get sent to the police, and even though Matt did nothing wrong, Matt is still in deep trouble. So now he has two choices. That is, go to jail, or join the LEAF (Liberty and Education Achieved through Fostering) project. The LEAF project is where you join the countryside, away from any urban areas. You must earn your liberty, and you will learn discipline when needed. So, Matt decides to go with the LEAF project. His guardian is Jayne Deverill, a short person with short, white hair and lifeless skin.

Unfortunately, things become stranger and stranger as Matt lives in Lesser Malling, the town Jayne takes him to. First, he starts hearing whispering voices in weird languages in the middle of the night. Later, when Matt makes an attempt to leave the house, he only finds himself going in circles, even if he walks straight.

Later, he finds a man who just might be able to explain everything, but finds he dies a horrible death with his bones broken and Raven's Gate written in green paint on the wall. Later, another person dies in the attempt to help him, and another person as well. Finally, Richard Cole, a reporter is able to help Matt and NOT die.

Later, discoveries of Raven's Gate are made. Raven's Gate leads to another world, of which the Old Ones are trying to open. The mysterious part is, how are the Nexus, Matt, Jayne Deverill, the villagers, Omega One (an old power station that is out of use), the Old Ones, and most importantly, Raven's Gate all be connected? Read the book to find out!

Raven's Gate-About the Author

Anthony Horowitz, I found, is like any other person. It seems he enjoys making stories

everywhere he goes. As a young child, he was very "round," and was sent to a boarding school

with a headmaster that flogged people until they bled. I read that he went to Hong Kong, and

even married there. There, he thought of stories to go with Necropolis, the 4th book of the

series.
